CHILD DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE (Level I, II, III) role at Del Mar College - Corporate Services. Employment Status: Full-Time-Staff. Salary minimums: Level I - $13.29; Level II - $14.53; Level III - $15.89. Open Date: 05/14/2025. Close Date: Open Until Filled. Minimum Qualifications

Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification (documentation of current certification required within two weeks of employment). Current Food Handler’s Certification (documentation of current certification required within two weeks of employment). Level I – Grade 915

Active Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (submission of CDA is required) OR twenty-four (24) college credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Three (3) years of experience working in a licensed child care center or related field working with children ages 18 months – 5 years. Level II – Grade 916

Active CDA Credential (submission of CDA is required) OR thirty-six (36) college credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Six (6) years of experience working in a licensed child care center or related field working with children ages 18 months – 5 years. Level III – Grade 917

Associate degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development with a minimum of thirty-six (36) college credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development OR nine (9) years of experience working in a licensed child care center or related field working with children ages 18 months – 5 years. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge related to child care licensing and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation as well as developmentally appropriate practices in Early Education. Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization, including data entry, receptionist duties, customer service, word processing and general clerical duties. Ability to incorporate the knowledge in classroom arrangement, management, assessment and curriculum. Work with parents, communicate well verbally and in writing. Ability to work as a member of a team. Lift and comfort a child of approximately 50 pounds and get up/down from the floor with ease. Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors year round. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development. Special Instructions to Applicants

Maintain a safe, healthy, and attractive learning environment both inside and outside, and share information and involve parents in the education and care of their children. Write and implement daily activity plans to develop safe and healthy habits, physical skills, self-esteem, creative expression, social skills, cognitive skills, and communication skills of the children assigned to their group. Observe and assess children for developmental milestones, complete center forms, which include developmental portfolios, daily meal count, attendance records, health checks and safety checklists. Maintain confidentiality of children and family information. Supervise the CDEC Assistant and coordinate work-study and laboratory students assigned to their classes. Stop unsafe activities, and report suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with parents and involve parents in the activities of their children. Seniority level
