The CPUC’s Grid Planning, Energy Storage, and Non-Wires Alternatives team develops strategies for distribution grid modernization to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets while ensuring safe, reliable service and increasing the role of distributed energy resources (DERs) to benefit ratepayers. This position offers a leadership role in shaping distribution planning, energy storage policy, and procurement strategies, with emphasis on high electrification and DER/storage integration. The successful candidate will lead implementation of statewide programs in energy storage policy, distribution grid planning, and DER procurement. The role requires strong quantitative analytic skills, effective communication, and collaboration. If clean energy or environmental sustainability is your passion, apply. Under the general direction of the Project and Program Supervisor, the Energy Storage & Grid Planning Analyst will advise high-level decision-makers (Commissioners, Judges, and Energy Division management), may serve as team leader and project coordinator on energy storage policy, procurement, and markets, and support distribution resource planning and DER procurement. The analyst will conduct original research, produce staff proposals, and make policy recommendations based on regulatory, market, policy, and technical analysis. Duties include developing recommendations for CPUC policy-setting rulemakings, reviewing proposed legislation, and overseeing program implementation resulting from CPUC and legislative processes. The role involves both teamwork and leadership responsibilities. Your STD 678 (application form) will be used to determine qualifications for the advertised classification(s). Describe all experience related to public utilities and/or transportation in economics, finance, or policy in the job description field of your STD 678, with years and months of service. Special Requirements: Prepare and submit a response for each question in the SOQ, with specific details and examples demonstrating qualification for the position.
