Project Manager Trainee – Big Box
to join our team in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia.
Job Summary A Project Manager Trainee will work under the guidance of a mentor to support senior Project Managers in overseeing all aspects of projects, from planning and scheduling to monitoring, controlling, and reporting. The role involves coordinating multiple projects, establishing deadlines, and ensuring timely completion on budget.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accurately define project requirements.
Assist with creating job schedules.
Coordinate delivery of tools and fabrication.
Identify and manage personnel assigned to each project and track labor efficiency.
Attend job progress meetings and initiate change orders and contract progress billings with the Project Manager.
Learn to estimate remaining “cost-to-complete” for monthly WIP reporting.
Manage day‑to‑day operations of assigned projects in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Work with clients to brainstorm creative solutions and ensure their needs are met through customized solutions.
Ensure projects follow established guidelines for efficient completion.
Communicate with team members regarding project needs.
Read and analyze job cost reports.
Respond promptly to inquiries from management.
Assist with collections as required.
Meet with designers regularly.
Learn the company’s scheduling program.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Currently enrolled full‑time at an accredited university, pursuing a Bachelors degree in Construction Management, or similar, is required.
Knowledge of sprinkler systems/plumbing and previous construction internship/experience is a plus.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
