Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) 1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants Guided by the agency's mission \"To reduce recidivism among those we touch,\" the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking for a dedicated, security‑minded professional to assume the responsibilities of a Violator Apprehension Team Supervisor (Parole Services Supervisor). The primary focus is to build and manage a strategic team that will ensure swift, safe, and coordinated responses to actively identify, locate, and apprehend violators at large who pose a risk to public safety. The supervisor will be assigned to oversee operations in either the North or South region of the state and must be available for evening and weekend field operations. The position will be located within the APA Field Services Section and report to the Deputy Superintendent of Interstate Compact. Responsibilities
Works under general direction & requires considerable knowledge of management & supervisory principles/techniques & probation & parole activities Manages Violator Apprehension Teams consisting of members within the parole officer classification series to locate & apprehend violators at large Responsible for posting special assignments, coordinating interview panels, conducting interviews & selection of team members Monitors violator at large case intel Works with the Chief Inspector’s Office analyst to develop leads on violator whereabouts Prioritizes level of response & dispatches teams for arrest & transport Oversees & manages on‑site coordination & involvement during apprehension Supervises assigned staff & conducts staff meetings Utilizes law enforcement databases (e.g., Law Enforcement Automation Data Systems (LEADS) terminal, National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer, Ohio Court Network (OCN), Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG) & BCI&I terminal) & Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction (ODRC) systems (e.g., OCSS, DOTS, ONBASE) for all relevant information associated with cases Establishes & maintains working relationships with Chief Information Officer (CIO), Institutions, task force agencies, other law enforcement organizations & ODRC partners Conducts investigations & presents at pre‑disciplinary hearing of alleged staff misconduct & recommends disciplinary action Participates in advanced equipment & tactical training Updates & complies monthly & ad hoc reports Collects & maintains documentation for ACA & internal management audits Responds verbally or in writing to requests & inquires Attends meetings, conferences & training Participates on committees, teams & workgroups Interprets & disseminates policies, procedures & programs Interviews & conducts pre‑employment background investigations Must conduct oneself professionally & in a law‑abiding manner at all times in accordance with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction’s Standards of Employee Conduct Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio driver's license. Or completion of undergraduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio driver's license. Or completion of graduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in correction/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio driver's license. 12 mos. exp. as Senior Parole Officer, 69812; valid Ohio driver's license.
