Job Overview
Responsible for tracking inventory and maintaining accurate inventory records and researching any discrepancies. Demonstrates a strong understanding of the equipment used, product location, and warehouse layout, including slot location, lost sales, mis‑picks, pack size, and other product information. Works as part of the Inventory Control Team to track all inventory within distribution centers, ensuring accurate records, researching discrepancies, and handling damaged or spoiled merchandise. Collaborates with procurement and local operations leadership to provide recommendations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors product velocity and tracks lost sales and in‑house damages. Researches inventory adjustments and maintains high service levels (low out of stock). Initiates date checks, periodic cycle counts and quality checks. Researches mis‑slots and quality issues, verifies pick slots and back‑stock verification. Processes return‑to‑vendor requests. Performs basic slotting. Tracks expiration dates, particularly for cooler/freezer items. Tracks food bank and salvaged product. Operates powered warehouse equipment such as forklift and electric pallet jack. JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience
Understanding of procedures in other warehouse areas for a global view of all processes. Experience as a selector or lift operator (strongly preferred). 1 year of data entry experience preferred. Good judgment to handle situations with limited supervision. Knowledge
Knowledge of safety guidelines. Strong knowledge of applicable BAKCO functions and RF systems. Understanding of paperwork and reporting methods related to tracking inventory. Skills/Abilities
Strong computer skills. Attention to detail. Strong knowledge of warehouse management system and RF system. Possession of a license to operate powered industrial equipment. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT / DEMANDS
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Exposure to temperatures ranging from –20°F to 35°F in the perishable operation and 37°F to 90°F in the grocery operation. Repetitive arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures. Work with hands and arms overhead, and in or under equipment. Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance at ground level and in high places. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Onsite role at a UNFI location such as a distribution center or office. 60% on the warehouse floor, 40% in an office cubicle. Work in the freezer section of the warehouse. About UNFI
