Our Employee-Owned company has an immediate full-time opening for a Business Development Manager. This position will work within Industrial, Commercial, and Healthcare businesses and be part of an amazing and GROWING team! This is a regular, full-time position and benefits-eligible. Pay range is depending on experience, skills, and knowledge.
Responsibilities & Job Duties
Identifies opportunities in Electrical contracting for the Construction, Healthcare, Service, Telecom/Support, and Low Voltage segments.
Build on existing relationships with Contractors and Owners for additional work and develop new relationships to increase volume of quality proposal opportunities and winning bids.
Work with various team members to understand prospect needs and effectively identify and sell solutions.
Develop and qualify leads (Public and Private sector prospects) and initiate and conduct pre-proposal meetings.
Collect and evaluate competitive activity, utilizing for proposal coordination with team members in Estimating, Continuous Improvement, Branch Operations and Project Management.
Identify and leverage cooperative selling opportunities with other trades or related industry partners. This position is highly visible and involved in Company representation for trade shows and associations.
Represent Company in community and maintain positive, high-profile position of positive contribution, leadership, and “giving back”.
Participate in Company strategy development for market segment development, and contribute to design of marketing materials in the form of PDFs, brochures, videos, etc.
Position Company for maximum competitive advantage by maintaining and expanding relationships with current clients, prospects, GCs, Developers, Architects, Construction Consultants, Federal Agencies, and related.
Follow Company proven standard procedures for effective selling in given markets, industry segments, etc., utilizing past practices while recommending improvements in the development and follow up of new leads.
Oversee and contribute to selling processes of all Branches to prevent overlapping efforts and to improve coordination of team efforts. Co-develop Account Plans with Branch Management, President/COO and other senior team members.
Regularly brief Major Construction Branch Manager, President/COO and other senior management on prospecting activities, results, and pipeline status.
Monitor, rapidly identify, and propose solutions for Account Plan challenges, problems, or unexpected circumstances.
Maintain and monitor customer relation database of contact information for all Branch locations or units served, prevent cannibalization or similar client cross-communications.
Oversee Business Development budget and manage for effective use of resources.
Prepare annual Plan Budget and present once a year to President/COO.
Maintain and grow existing customer base for more work. Establish and build prospect relations for new base of business and continued Company growth/expansion.
Facilitate smooth and effective bid processes (including responses to RFPs) assuring effective hand off of client relationship upon initiation of work. Provide periodic client check-ins for quality assurance and satisfaction levels.
Conduct networking, marketing support and related activities in coordination with Business Development objectives and to assure brand building across target segments.
Comply with Company sales SOW particular to the segment, geographical location, or other specifics as outlined by senior management or the President/COO.
Learn specialized needs for each segment and features/benefits of Company solutions. Leverage technical expertise for broad and deep explanations and discussions with prospects.
Meet established activity goals for networking, making calls, holding meetings, and related duties per standardized procedures. Utilize company purchased lead lists and other means of establishing new contacts via personal connections, industry organizations, etc.
Requirements
Construction or related Degree as well as training in project management, contracting, estimating and safety required.
Eight or more years related experience, including deep construction background.
Electrical industry experience preferred.
Five or more years strong and ongoing relationships with General Contractors, Owners, Developers, Architects, Engineers and related construction industry professionals.
Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
Proven background of direct business development in the electrical or construction industry.
Self-motivated with solid work ethic, and desire to grow.
Excellent negotiation, collaboration, and closing skills.
Microsoft Office proficient or expert level.
CRM software proficiency and strong experience in customer data management.
Excellent communications and presentation skills; ability to represent Company in a positive way.
Ability to forecast and effectively manage pipeline while handling closing pressures.
Effectively contribute to labor and resource planning to support forecasts.
Valid driver’s license and insured personal transportation also required.
