Senior Transportation Engineer

Pond & Company . Pond is recruiting a self-motivated individual to serve as our Roadway Design Technical Lead in our Jacksonville office. In this role you will provide technical oversight on transportation projects and will work with our Project Managers to coordinate and direct production efforts and lead training and mentoring of junior engineering staff.

Team Our team of civil engineering professionals includes transportation design engineers, traffic engineers, and planners. Our transportation team is engaged in projects throughout the southeast, and our existing client base includes state transportation agencies such as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), as well as various counties and local municipalities. The successful candidate would be an integral part of our growing team and would have the opportunity to engage across markets and geographies.

Qualifications

Professional Engineer, P.E. certification is required

B.S. in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering

10-18 years of transportation/roadway and drainage design experience is preferred.

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques

Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, project, and time management skills

Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships

Responsibilities Technical

Working knowledge of FDOT design criteria and standards

Proficiency with roadway design software packages such as OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and GEOPAK

Experience with Alternative Intersection projects

Excellent technical skills in the design of roadway realignments, widening, safety enhancements, and drainage

Ability to coordinate multiple unique assignments simultaneously

Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively convey information to technical and non-technical individuals. Engage in and support internal Quality Control and Quality Assurance Program

Operational

Responsible for coordinating with Project Managers and Design Team for day-to-day decisions on resource allocation, staffing, and project budgets

Responsible for assessment of resources and effectiveness to meet current and future needs

Responsible for developing and implementing roadway design and production training program

Review and assist with hiring new technical and production level staff

Must be able to provide direction and mentor junior level staff

Marketing/Project Pursuits

Assist with marketing pursuits in concert with Project Manager, Pond Leadership, and our Marketing team

Serve as Roadway Key Technical Lead (KTL) as needed in proposals

Actively engage DOT and other clients to assess, develop, and align with core services
