General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store as well as general operations and supervision of the store when functioning as Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the store, supervise associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean work area at all times. They also execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone and immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions.
Responsible for building security including entrance/exit control, electronic article surveillance checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area security.
Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
Responsible for customer safety, including accident prevention, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times and recognize associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
Represent and support the company brand at all times.
Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code and ensure all associates adhere to it.
Keep all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up.
Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed and processing merchandise with a sense of urgency.
Responsible for receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (e.g., signs, supplies, special deliveries).
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms and ensure back‑stock is secured and processed to company policy.
Responsible for merchandising of departments, reducing loss due to damage, and ensuring compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
Responsible for floor moves, signage, and promotional signing as needed, as well as re‑wraps.
Loss Prevention
Understand and comply with the loss prevention awareness program; maintain a large customer‑service presence on the sales floor and heightened loss‑prevention awareness.
Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers and safeguard confidential information, cash, credit‑card information, and merchandise.
Maintain proper operation of the public view monitor system.
Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
Execute company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
Front‑End Supervision and Operations
Execute company best practices to maximize productivity.
Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the front end, managing lines to expedite customer wait time.
Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures.
Control retail associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches, and breaks.
Ensure all equipment is working properly and maintain supplies and recovery for the front end area.
Ensure go‑backs are expedited, properly scanned, security‑tagged, and ticketed.
Teach all associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensure salability of merchandise on the front end.
Fitting Rooms
Maintain and clean fitting rooms and audit all garment tags to company policy.
Ensure go‑back compliance on all merchandise returned to the sales floor.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
Ensure cash pulls and bank deposits are conducted per company policy.
Responsible for front‑end control during refunds, associate purchase approvals, securing tills, and other cash‑handling procedures.
Manage payroll administration including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned by store manager.

Use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PCs) as required.
Stand, walk, and move throughout the store up to 100 % of working time.
Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs; stockroom shifts may require more than 20 lbs.
Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
