Under the direction of the Pathology Support Services Manager, the Office Services Senior Coordinator assists with daily administrative, accessioning, and office duties in the Division of Surgical Pathology Consultation Office. The coordinator receives and logs non-OSU pathology cases (slides, paraffin tissue blocks, outside pathology report) for 2nd opinion diagnosis; ensures receipt of written documentation for consultation from the ordering physician; obtains patient 3rd party payer information for billing accuracy; registers patients and orders a consultation case using IHIS; performs additional special stains, IHC stains, molecular pathology and specialty testing as indicated; organizes consult slides, blocks and paperwork; maintains quality assurance spreadsheets; operates computer equipment to produce confidential medical reports and correspondence; answers phones; researches, compiles, analyzes materials; produces mailings for patient consultation reports; returns outside blocks and slides periodically in accordance with retention policies; works closely with OSU medical center personnel to complete accessioning for patients scheduled for OSU appointments; collaborates with the pathology core facility staff to ensure accurate accessioning of molecular pathology cases; directs student employees to assist with office tasks and deliver cases to/from pathologists or the histology lab. Job Requirements
High School diploma or GED. 2 years of relevant experience required. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
