Overview Golden State Dermatology is a physician‑led and owned dermatology group rapidly expanding across California, with over 37 locations. We are a leading medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology group specializing in skin, hair, and nail conditions, Mohs micrographic surgery for the treatment of skin cancer, surgical and non‑surgical cosmetic skincare, anti‑aging, body contouring, and plastic surgery.

Schedule Mon, Tue, & Thu, 7:15 AM to approximately 4:15‑4:30 PM (standard hours, may vary as needed).

Position Summary As a Medical Assistant, you will partner with providers and guide patients through their treatment.

Responsibilities

Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.

Ensure all treatment rooms are cleaned and stocked at the end of each workday.

Review patient history, visit reason, medications, and patient understanding of procedures, and make notes in EMA.

Ensuring MIPS information is consistently and accurately completed in the medical record.

Assist with scheduling patients' tests and treatments.

Assist dermatology providers during surgical procedures, such as excisions, Mohs surgery, and cosmetic dermatology procedures.

Provide support to the front desk by answering phones, scheduling patients, and assisting staff in determining the need for reception assistance once all back‑office duties are addressed.

Clean and perform spore testing on the autoclave, following scheduled maintenance, and keep accurate records.

Check expiration dates on medications and samples, maintain records of date checks, and keep the biopsy book, slides, and pathology reports up to date while recording results in patient charts.

Process prescription refills in accordance with established procedures, ensuring authorization for prescriptions as needed.

Demonstrate responsibility in managing the pathology and culture log.

Perform substantial multitasking and task management to ensure timely completion of all responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned by the Practice Manager as needed.

Ensure exceptional patient service, making patients feel welcome, comfortable, and well‑cared for during their visit.

Helpful but Not Required Skills

Customer service skills or a patient‑centered mindset.

Previous dermatology, healthcare, or aesthetics experience.

Knowledgeable with insurance carriers (e.g., Medicare, commercial, HMO).

Experience with EClinicalWorks, EMA, or other EMR software.
