The duties of the Human Resources Assistant may include, but are not limited to the following:
Verify employee prior state service by contacting previous employers to ensure accurate adjusted leave service dates
Process verification of employment (VOE) requests for active and inactive employees
Complete Federal Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9) via the E-Verify system
Assist in coordinating the LADOJ New Hire Orientation program
Support the maintenance and coordination of the LADOJ Volunteer/Intern Programs
Support the preparation of HR reportsPost and manage vacancy announcements including, but not limited to, preparing vacancy announcements and forwarding applicants to hiring managers
Maintain and update employee personnel files and HR Databases
Process incoming mail and ensure delivery to the appropriate HCM staff
Answer incoming telephone calls and provide exceptional customer service to staff members and members of the public
Provide general administrative assistance to HR staff as needed
