Job Title:
Experienced Legal Secretary – Personal Injury
Compensation:
$70,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience
About the Role Our client, a respected personal injury law firm in Sacramento, is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join their team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting attorneys in all phases of personal injury litigation.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, proofread, and file legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence with courts and agencies
Manage attorney calendars, schedule depositions, and coordinate client meetings and medical exams
Prepare and serve subpoenas; update and maintain proof of service records
Organize and maintain case files, including medical records, accident reports, and discovery materials
Track and communicate deadlines, reminders, and statutes of limitations
Assist with discovery, including document production and responses
Prepare for trial by creating witness lists, drafting jury instructions, and organizing trial binders
Communicate professionally with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and court staff
Support billing, timekeeping, and case expense tracking as needed
Qualifications
Prior experience as a legal secretary in personal injury law required
Strong knowledge of discovery, court filing procedures, and trial preparation
Proficient in calendaring, scheduling, and legal document management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency with legal software and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with WordPerfect, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat required
Ability to work in person in Sacramento, CA
