Overview

Our client, a respected personal injury law firm in Sacramento, is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join their team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting attorneys in all phases of personal injury litigation.

Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and file legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence with courts and agencies
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule depositions, and coordinate client meetings and medical exams
  • Prepare and serve subpoenas; update and maintain proof of service records
  • Organize and maintain case files, including medical records, accident reports, and discovery materials
  • Track and communicate deadlines, reminders, and statutes of limitations
  • Assist with discovery, including document production and responses
  • Prepare for trial by creating witness lists, drafting jury instructions, and organizing trial binders
  • Communicate professionally with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and court staff
  • Support billing, timekeeping, and case expense tracking as needed

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a legal secretary in personal injury law required
  • Strong knowledge of discovery, court filing procedures, and trial preparation
  • Proficient in calendaring, scheduling, and legal document management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with legal software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with WordPerfect, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat required
  • Ability to work in person in Sacramento, CA
