District: Walker-Hackensack-Akeley ISD 113 Position Overview: Up North Learning Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time School Social Worker to join our Setting IV K–12 program. The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to support a diverse population of students with disabilities, helping them achieve optimal personal, social, and academic development. This role requires close collaboration with students, families, staff, and community partners to address the unique challenges our learners face and to promote a positive and inclusive school environment. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to address the individual needs of students. Provide individual and small group counseling for students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Offer crisis intervention and prevention support. Assist in developing and implementing behavior intervention strategies in classroom settings. Support students experiencing dysregulation through conflict resolution and self-regulation techniques. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the prevention and resolution of educational concerns. Refer students and families to appropriate community resources and follow up as needed. Conduct classroom presentations promoting social-emotional learning and mental health awareness. Maintain accurate, confidential records and prepare timely reports. Regularly communicate student data and updates with resident districts. Assist with public awareness initiatives to enhance understanding of the needs of students with exceptionalities. Adapt to evolving responsibilities and perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Current licensure by the Minnesota Board of Social Work and the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (Board of Teaching). LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) preferred. Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations. Knowledge and experience in supporting youth with mental health needs. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to provide staff training and professional development.
