The Receptionist plays a key role in creating a welcoming and professional environment that reflects OTECH's values of Community, Learning, and Integrity. This position is responsible for cashiering, greeting customers, answering phones, checking and changing voicemail, providing excellent customer service to students and clients, maintaining and updating salon appointment books, keeping the reception area neat and orderly, and assisting with customer concerns as they arise. The Receptionist works under the direction of the Cosmetology Manager and in conjunction with the Program Director to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive experience for all visitors.

Taking tenders at the cash register. Accurate cash counts and money handling procedures. Following all policies regarding the POS and College fiscal services department. Open and close point of sale and verify for accuracy. Responsible for spot checks throughout the day to ensure tenders are accurate, and fiscal policies are adhered to.

Answer phone calls promptly and correctly. Exhibits good telephone etiquette. Responsible for all aspects of voicemail for the salon phones, changing voicemails for weekends and holidays on a weekly basis.

Responsible for maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the front desk and reception area. Maintain accountability of students when they assist at the front desk.

Monitor retail and ensure product shelves are stocked, priced and clean. Setup and maintain promotional displays.

Provide excellent customer service to all clients and students in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner. Assist with problems solving and resolving client and student issues with tact, patience and courtesy.

Maintains and updates appointment books for students and clients, including inputting students into the point of sale and updating schedules as needed.

Booking appointments and marking students out for classes or absences. Making sure client color formulas are entered into the computer system for future appointments.

Able to handle multiple tasks at once and give excellent customer service.

Adhere to safety and sanitation practices.

Must be able to work a flexible, part-time schedule.

Education And Experience Requirements

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Computer literacy is highly desirable.

Spanish speaking proficiency desirable.

Physical Requirements

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

WORKING SCHEDULE: Evening hours: Monday 1:00-6:00 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday 4:00-9:00 p.m.
