Perform clerical duties related to patient admission, discharge, and documentation, prioritizing tasks based on department needs. Greet patients and families, assisting with forms and paperwork. Complete admission and discharge paperwork, and manage file processing. Develop rapport and cooperative relationships with nursing and clinical staff; respond to healthcare providers' questions/requests. Organize and file medical information appropriately. Answer phones and call bells; communicate clearly with other units, physicians, and guests. Safeguard sensitive medical information, maintaining confidentiality of data related to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors. Serve as a resource for troubleshooting computer and system issues within the department. Maintain and stock clerical supplies and equipment. Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure departmental efficiency. Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a secretarial or medical terminology course preferred. Previous experience as a Nursing Unit Secretary in a hospital setting strongly preferred. Proficiency with medical vocabulary, hospital policies, and procedures. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and order entry. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with patients and families, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability. Responsibility for accuracy and response times is essential.
