Caseworker
Location: Webster, Pocahontas, Calhoun, and Humboldt counties, IA.
Responsibilities
Conduct pre‑screening activities for potential foster families.
Write complete, thorough, and unbiased home‑study assessments for prospective and current foster and adoptive families, recommending licensure and/or adoption approval and submitting timely to HHS.
Meet contract requirements for supportive contacts for Resource Families with or without placements.
Support Resource Families to keep children stable for as long as a placement is needed.
Provide pre‑service and/or in‑service training as requested.
Assist with or provide recommendations regarding match referrals.
Assess strengths and limitations of placement options.
Assist with troubleshooting procedures when matches are potentially delayed.
When requested, promptly provide one or more names of Resource Families who may meet the requested referral criteria for a child.
Document contact with Resource Families in a timely manner using appropriate CareMatch procedures and required forms.
Assess permanency needs of the child/youth.
Conduct initial, renewal, update, ICPC, and relative home studies as assigned.
Demonstrate professional written and verbal communication with HHS/JCS.
Travel as necessary to complete job functions, including attending stakeholder meetings, meeting Resource Families in their homes, and attending training or support group venues.
Meet with prospective or current Resource Families/children in their homes at designated intervals as required by contract, including evenings and weekends when available.
Support pre‑adoptive families through to adoption to assure stability.
Maintain current awareness of Iowa Administrative Code resource family licensing and approval standards.
Assist Resource Families in remaining in compliance with standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, or related field.
At least one year of related experience.
Knowledge of foster care and adoption systems is preferred.
