EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary : The Employment Support Specialist integrates the personal growth of NEWS employees with Noble’s services and the needs of business partners Supervisory Responsibilities : No FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Work from home eligible : No Duties/Responsibilities: • Provide oversight at multiple work sites across Indianapolis region • Serve as liaison for program to coordinate supported employment and Vocational Rehabilitation services • Develop and deliver work and life skills training based on individual needs, including retraining and support services as necessary • Assist with recruitment, placement, and training of NEWS programs at all sites • Conduct job development, analysis, and resource and compatibility assessments based on individuals’ skills, abilities, needs, and goals • Lead or support person-centered planning meetings for assigned cases or upon request Stay informed about NEWS activities across all sites to support organizational flexibility • Coordinate with manager and team to facilitate coverage in the event of staff absence. • Support individuals in resolving service-related issues • Seek out and/or act on opportunities to engage in advocacy efforts that preserve the rights of persons served. • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned Requirements Effective communication skills Understanding of different learning styles Passion for problem solving and designing solutions Education and Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D One year of work experience with individuals with disabilities and/or practical experience in a human services field preferred Working knowledge of frameworks common to disability services practices, especially those most broadly subscribed to by Noble such as the LifeCourse Framework Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification and must stay current on all other training as defined by state, accreditation body or organization guidelines Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sustained activity including standing, walking and light lifting (2 – 20 lbs.) Must have ability to lift/move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. periodically
