Litigation Paralegal
Spencer Fane LLP invites applicants to join as a Litigation Paralegal in its Phoenix, AZ office. Position Details
Full‑time: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (37.5 hours per week). Reports to the Regional Office Administrator. Compensation: hourly $36.45–$47.90, depending on experience. Position Summary
The Litigation Paralegal provides comprehensive paralegal support to multiple attorneys, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. The role requires a confident, organized professional with strong writing and communication skills. Key Responsibilities
Communicate professionally with clients, contacts, attorneys, other paralegals, and firm staff. Assist litigation attorneys with drafting, research, document review/analysis, production preparation, trial support, depositions, and hearings. Gather, organize, and review client documents from production to discovery. Conduct internet and site searches to locate information or documents requested by attorneys. Identify experts for case defense. Participate in trial preparation and mediation as needed. Research and summarize records, organize data in databases. Ensure regulatory compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, PBGC, CMS, and other requirements. Lead or participate in meetings and calls using remote technologies. Prepare documents and docket deadlines, and follow up with attorneys to ensure deadlines are met. Coordinate meetings, schedule, draft minutes and agendas, and create meeting packets. Meet with clients and attorneys to execute documents and explain processes. Check citations, proofread documents, and collect exhibits. Perform general administrative tasks such as mailings, file retrieval, service payments, and email filing. Track and record time to ensure services are appropriately charged. Qualifications and Skills
Undergraduate degree and/or paralegal certificate. 3‑5 years of experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department. 5+ years of litigation experience highly preferred. Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple attorneys’ projects. Calm under pressure and able to cope with demanding attorneys. Strong organizational, research, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills. Self‑starter willing to work long hours when needed. Maintain confidentiality in all business dealings. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Strong oral and written communication skills, including keyboarding. Physical Requirements
Position is generally sedentary; may involve brief mobility between offices. Ability to lift 10–20 lbs occasionally or routinely. Efficient communication and repetitive motions required. Ability to read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and normal type size print. Benefits
