Overview
Lead Social Caseworker - Children, Youth & Family Services (0-3 Intake) role at El Paso County, Colorado, USA. This position leads a team in the 0-3 Intake Unit, manages a caseload, and mentors a small yet dynamic team. Provides lead work for a team, including training, technical support, orienting new employees, guidance and mentoring, resolving complex problems, and providing input on leadership evaluations. Fosters a team atmosphere that is inclusive and supportive. Provides casework and assessment services as directed; reviews and ensures incorporation of treatment and work plans from the court, caseworkers, providers, and community partners. Interviews clients and develops appropriate treatment plans; initiates and coordinates home studies; provides intensive casework for families and children; investigates allegations of child abuse and assesses imminent danger; makes referrals to community resources. Monitors clients progress, ensures services are provided timely, and evaluates the suitability of placements and services to ensure child safety and wellbeing. Provides crisis management and coordinates support services to resolve problems, barriers, and conflicts. Acts as a liaison for the DHS; consults with other caseworkers and professionals on case situations and plans. Attends and testifies in court hearings and mediations; completes necessary paperwork and monitors compliance with court orders. Prepares for and participates in meetings and staffings; mediates disagreements and builds consensus to ensure child safety. Addresses child safety issues in the home and ensures interventions for children in the department's custody or supervision. Documents all contacts and ensures accurate paperwork and reporting; inputs updates into database. Arranges and provides transportation for clients to appointments, therapy, school, court hearings, and other activities. Ensures compliance with laws, rules, and regulations; reviews cases to ensure plans are developed and implemented. Provides support to Practice and Support and Services teams within the CYFS Division as needed. Assists with collecting, monitoring, and reporting team statistics, data, and outcomes; facilitates meetings as needed. Performs other duties as required. Compensation
Hiring Range:
$64,000.00 - $68,000.00 annually Anticipated Hiring Rate:

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with course work related to child welfare (e.g., human development, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic or therapeutic techniques). Two years of professional, internship, or volunteer experience in a human service-related agency. Successful completion of a BSW/MSW internship may substitute for one year of experience. Licenses & Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance as per El Paso County policies. Must obtain and maintain necessary certifications as applicable to the position. Colorado State Child Welfare Caseworker Certification or ability to complete and pass initial examination within ninety days of enrollment. Pre-Employment Requirements
Must pass conditional post-offer background investigation, including fingerprinting, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen. College transcripts required prior to hire. Work Conditions
Duties are performed in office environments, clients’ homes, schools, jails, and courts. May require travel, occasional lifting, and a 24/7 on-call rotation. Hybrid remote work may be available based on department discretion. Reliable transportation is required; mileage reimbursement is available upon request. Local and potentially out-of-state travel may be required. Additional notes
