We are seeking an experienced and accomplished Major Gifts Officer to join our Development team. The Major Gifts Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission of BGCSTL by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding significant philanthropic investments from individuals, foundations, and corporations. This tenured professional will bring a proven track record of securing major gifts and building enduring donor relationships, along with a deep passion for youth development and community impact.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors with the capacity to make gifts of $25,000 and above.

Manage a personal portfolio of current and prospective major donors, ensuring tailored engagement that aligns donor interests with the organization’s priorities.

Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer, CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior leaders to leverage relationships and expand the organization’s donor pipeline.

Partner with program and leadership teams to develop compelling cases for support and articulate the impact of donor investments.

Plan and participate in donor events, site visits, and recognition opportunities that strengthen donor commitment and inspire increased giving.

Track and report progress toward fundraising goals using CRM systems, ensuring accurate documentation of donor interactions and moves management.

Stay informed on youth development issues, organizational initiatives, and community needs to serve as a knowledgeable and credible advocate for BGCSTL’s mission.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with at least five years focused on securing major gifts.

Demonstrated success in closing six- and seven-figure gifts from individual donors, foundations, and corporations.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build authentic, long-term donor relationships.

Strategic thinker with excellent organizational and project management skills, capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments and with volunteer leadership.
