Powder Coating Quality & Process Lead

The role focuses on taking full ownership of the powder coating process, with an emphasis on loading efficiency and high-quality paint application. This hands-on position includes preparing and hanging parts to maximize line density, applying powder coating in accordance with Technical Data Sheets (TDS), and ensuring a consistent, high-quality finish through inspection and touch-up as needed.

Responsibilities

Quality Assurance: Ensure components are produced/coated efficiently and meet quality and on-time performance goals.

Identify and address issues related to the powder coating process, equipment malfunctions, or quality control deviations.

Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to powder coat painters, including training, coaching, and mentoring to enhance skills and performance.

Workflow Optimization: Collaborate with supervisor to optimize workflow and scheduling to meet production goals and deadlines; ensure spray efficiencies meet KPI targets.

CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) Application: Apply CARC finishes in line with standards, monitor environmental conditions for curing, and inspect coated parts for quality compliance.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of powder coating equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including adherence to OSHA regulations.

Requirements

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge of safety protocols related to powder coating operations.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.

Ability to work independently without daily supervision.

Schedule: Must be able to work M-TH, 5:30am-4:00pm; occasional overtime may be required with notice.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Additional training or certification in powder coating technology or related field preferred.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in powder coating painting.

Good knowledge of mechanics and repair of painting equipment.

Knowledge of washes and pretreatments.
