EHS&S supports Tesla’s people- and environment-focused decision making using actionable metrics, world-class resources, and exceptional talent.
Tesla is seeking an ambitious EHS Specialist to support the Gigafactory Nevada Factory located in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. They will use human and organizational principles to drive ownership of safety, health and environmental impacts, with a focus on engagement, learning from events, training, and a systems-level problem solving.
The candidate will develop, implement and continuously improve programs within the EHS Management System framework in partnership with the broader EHS and Gigafactory teams. They will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
What You'll Do
Drive one or more manufacturing department EHS outcomes through leadership and employee engagement in alignment with the business and EHS strategies
Actively work with factory stakeholders to ensure that Production and Factory changes result in improved controls of risks to health, safety and the environment
Perform audits and inspections, document results, and verify action closure
Analyze event trends and use risk-assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact events
Facilitate investigations from a Learning Teams approach, ensuring worker involvement and that preventative actions address system causes and not just individual behaviors
Participate in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before new, high risk, and non-standard work begins
Partner with EHS specialties (Environmental, Construction Safety, Equipment Safety, EHS Systems and Tools, EHS Training, etc.) as needed to ensure effective service delivery
What You'll Bring
Minimum 2 years of work experience as an EHS professional, preferably in a manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, or similar workplace
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or equivalent experience
Experience supporting EHS program development, training all levels of personnel, and influencing/managing change to reduce risk and improve outcomes by working with cross functional teams
Experience with hazard analysis methods, hazard communication, powered industrial vehicle safety, OSHA compliance, event/incident investigation and learnings, and corrective action management
Familiarity with industrial hygiene, industrial ergonomics, machine safety, environmental compliance processes
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and deadlines
Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
