Safety, Compliance & Environmental
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
Partner with the EHS to uphold a safe and compliant workplace, including security protocols, access control, and emergency response procedures.
Oversee hazardous waste storage areas, spill containment systems, and other environmental safety controls.
Support environmental initiatives such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainability improvements.
Utilities & Cost Control
Monitor and optimize facility-related utilities, including water, gas, electricity, and compressed air systems.
Track and analyze energy usage and implement efficiency improvements to control costs.
Manage service contracts, vendor relationships, and capital project budgets related to facility operations.
Supervise maintenance technicians and external service providers.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Laboratory, EHS, Engineering, and other management to support manufacturing operations.
Develop, track, and report facility performance metrics such as uptime, maintenance response times, and energy consumption.
Prepare and manage facility-related budgets and forecasts.
Additional Responsibilities
Coordinate space planning and facility layout changes to support operational needs.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance schedules, inspections, and regulatory compliance records.
Serve as the primary contact for facility emergencies, equipment failures, or infrastructure-related incidents.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Proven experience as a Facilities Manager or Maintenance Manager in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building systems operations.
Familiarity with plant utilities, industrial equipment maintenance, and preventive maintenance programs.
Understanding of EHS and regulatory compliance standards (OSHA, EPA, NFPA).
Proficiency in budgeting, vendor management, and cost control.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field; or a minimum of 5 years equivalent experience.
Professional certification such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Building Operator Certification (BOC) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in chemical manufacturing operations.
Proficiency with BatchMaster or similar ERP and maintenance management systems (e.g., KPA).
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, and management in both office and plant environments.
Regular use of computers, handheld devices, and standard office and maintenance equipment.
Ability to move throughout the production facility, including climbing ladders and accessing confined or elevated spaces.
Must be able to position self to inspect and maintain equipment.
Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. may be required.
Normal hearing and vision required for communication, inspection, and documentation tasks.
