Job Summary
The Kiln Coordinator is responsible for the overall efficient operation of the kiln(s) at their site. This includes compliance with all quality, safety, and environmental standards. The Kiln Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that any maintenance issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner. Essential Functions / Duties
Ensure all quality, environmental and safety procedures are followed and report any non‑compliant activities in accordance with established processes. Participate in Safety, Quality and Environmental Audits as required. Ensure material is dried in accordance with the established schedule. Ensure all material handling is performed to minimize damage to the equipment or the product. Drive to maximize kiln throughput by monitoring kiln turn times and adjusting target moisture contents based on achieved moistures. Ensure moisture meter probes are installed in the correct locations utilizing the correct procedure. Ensure the kiln’s wet and dry bulbs and EMC wafers are clean and operational for every charge. Monitor kiln moisture meter readings and correct issues that arise. Understand the functions of the kiln monitoring software (Lignomat & Omega) and that they are running at all times. Monitor kiln performance utilizing appropriate applications. Assist the maintenance team in identifying and resolving issues with fans, vents, doors, etc. Ensure proper paperwork is filled out, reviewed and filed. Attend all training sessions and safety meetings. Computer duties as necessary. Other duties as directed. Qualifications
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required. Ability to learn about the kiln monitoring system and the common maintenance procedures of the system. Ability to learn about all treatments, lumber and plywood sizes, grades, and species. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type. Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards. Ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively. Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one’s ability using his or her own drive or initiative. Ability to effectively operate a forklift to load and unload the kilns. Be comfortable working within Windows based programs, using a word processor, and email. Must have a good knowledge of spreadsheeting. Work Environment
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Can be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy. Will get dirty. Will require entry into small, enclosed spaces. Physical Requirements
