40 weekly hours (1 week on call rotation requirement; depending on the number of Mechanics on staff)

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm (On call has weekend requirements as well)

Summary

Coordinates, schedules, installs, maintains, repairs and oversees all mechanical related work. Work involves performance of skilled mechanical tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of mechanical equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed independently with minimal direction. Provide direction and training for other facilities staff as needed to accomplish electrical tasks.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, schedule and oversee mechanical related work tasks.

Coordinate assistance from contractors to maintain buildings as needed.

Performs and coordinates security functions for assigned buildings as needed to maintain safe and secure sites.

Perform all facets of mechanical tasks from minor repairs to more complex tasks such as pneumatic tube system maintenance/repair, medical gas system maintenance/repair, auto door maintenance/repair, bed maintenance/repair.

Layout special mechanical system projects and upgrade mechanical distribution equipment/systems as necessary to complete scheduled tasks.

Provide troubleshooting support for other trade fields as needed.

Operate specialized tools and equipment (power drills, saws, wrenches, meters, test gauges, analyzers, welding equipment) to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.

Read, interpret and utilize plans, schematic drawings, line diagrams, specifications and work orders for electrical related tasks.

Interpret codes such as NFPA and other regulations related to the mechanical field to ensure compliant task outcomes.

Train other staff in accomplishing successful mechanical tasks.

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for essential mechanical equipment/systems.

Assist department leadership in managing contractor work activities and coordinating utility/equipment shutdowns as necessary.

Direct operations staff when necessary per leadership.

Ensure contractor staff follows codes and health system policies and procedures.

Monitor and document contractors' work activities to ensure specifications are met.

Prioritize, schedule, and follow up on all assigned projects; communicate task schedules and projected costs with the customer.

Develop task specifications and update preventive/predictive maintenance procedures for new or changed equipment.

Implement safety programs (risk assessments, ICRA/PICRA, lockout/tag-out, confined space, MSDS) to ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., JCAHO, State, OSHA, NEC).

Report unsafe conditions and document all work performed and training received.

Communicate with department and interdepartmental staff; attend meetings and in-services as scheduled.

Maintain logs and expense budgets within pre-established guidelines.

Requisition supplies and materials following purchasing procedures.

Keep records of work and produce reports.

Required Qualifications

5 years’ experience of mechanical experience required or experience as a Supervisor of Facilities in a Healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications

ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Certification

Asbestos Certification for Operations & Maintenance

Education / Licenses & Certifications Licenses / Certifications: Physical Requirements – M (Medium Work) see below

Physical Requirements Medium work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

Pay Range $25.00 - $38.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
