Operations Technician II – Animal Facility
Join LFB USA as an Operations Technician II for our animal facility. This role involves daily animal care, husbandry tasks, and technical support to our production goals.
Responsibilities
Daily animal care activities: feeding, observations/identification of clinical concerns, and nail trimming.
Husbandry: cage change/cleaning, use of power wash and chemical dispensing equipment, and general facility sanitization.
Milking of rabbits and supporting activities to meet production goals while adhering to established schedules.
Proper restraint of rabbits to facilitate general animal care, transfers, sample collection, and advanced handling (AI restraint).
Perform injections (IM, IV, SC, IP) and IV blood collection procedures.
Assess animals, initiate veterinary care and execute animal treatments.
Perform animal identification (ear tags, tattoos, RFID transponders).
Support updating records for natural and artificial insemination breeding, pregnancy palpation, and kindling/weaning procedures.
Utilize computer and paper‑based systems to document and record information to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Implement quality systems (e.g., change control, deviations) and provide training on SOPs/WI/TM as assigned.
Work on assigned projects independently with minimal supervision.
Identify safety issues, initiate corrective actions, and communicate animal welfare concerns.
Show sound understanding of animal care and use guidelines.
Provide weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Laboratory animal experience: 2–5 years (AS) or 1–4 years (BS) or 1–3 years (MS), as required.
Must hold AALAS certification at the ALAT level.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and good organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Commitment to teamwork and strong interpersonal skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and internet.
Ability to push/pull wheeled carts up to 500 pounds.
Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 pounds.
Capable of standing or sitting for up to six hours a day.
May be exposed to potential allergenic materials.
Perform repetitive motions involving hands and wrists.
Salary $24.50 to $27.50 per hour. Compensation depends on relevant skills, experience, and internal equity.
