This is a corporate leadership and managerial position responsible for developing, improving and supporting the corporation and the multiple Summit Polymers facilities in the development, coordination, auditing, and implementation of key materials systems and processes. The Corporate Materials Manager works collaboratively with plant materials managers, general managers, and other company leadership to continually improve materials processes. These processes include Production Planning and Control, Customer Service, Customer Scorecard, Plant Procurement and Kanban systems, Levelized Production, and Capacity Analysis. Job Details
JOB TITLE: Manager, Materials (Corporate) FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Vice President, Supply Chain Responsibilities
Exhibit positive leadership and act with the highest level of integrity and ethics. Provide leadership in cooperation with the SPI Plant General Managers for all plant materials management functions. Provide support to intercompany shipments into Summit owned warehousing operations. Manage inventory processes and policies with a goal of eliminating excess inventory from engineering changes and program balance-outs. Attain a thorough understanding of any appropriate system(s) that are to be implemented. Support and assist in the training of the plant Materials Managers, including facilitating 10 day new hire training plans. Assist with the implementation of systems related to the Materials function at all global Summit Polymers locations. Implementation will include training, testing, troubleshooting and following up to ensure that the systems are functioning properly. Generate detailed systems development scoping documentation for review by senior leadership and Information Technology. Manage Corporate Materials personnel that support SPI plant and corporate Materials operations. Respond to various customer required Materials related requests including capacity studies, supplier constraints management data gathering, and/or trade and environmental compliance reporting obligations. Maintain a pro-active approach in remaining current with customer standards relevant to materials systems. Develop, track, train, and implement standardization processes and across all global Summit Polymers locations Prioritize activities based on structured Key Results Areas Represent the Corporate Materials Department at all Bi-weekly Manufacturing Operations meetings. Participate in a large cross-functional team to support and execute new program launches. Develop procedures that ensure SPI compliance with materials systems and regulatory requirements. Complete other projects at the request of the Vice President, Supply Chain. Support system compliance audits of each manufacturing location twice annually. Cooperate with the IT and other Supply Chain leaders to plan and develop systems tools that drive greater standardization. Oversee the quarterly capacity analysis process. Education And Experience
College degree and 5 years of experience in an automotive materials management position. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with the customers and plant material functions to formulate and write common material system procedures and practices. Outstanding leadership, team building, coaching, and decision making abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with the customers and plant material functions to formulate and write common material system procedures and practices. Broad knowledge of materials systems and management practices in automotive supply chain. Must be able to gather and analyze information easily and make appropriate decisions. A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (26 on the Cognitive Ability section). Travel Requirements
