Job Overview The Patient Access Representative greets, directs, checks in and registers patients; enters, updates and verifies pt. insurance information. Schedules outside services; assembles chart forms; updates ID sheet, etc. Secures signatures on release of information, required treatment and billing authorization and other legal documents as necessary. Scans documents in EMR, maintains incomplete Verification Work-listin EMR. Assists in insurance authorization process and financial counseling functions. Shriners Children's – Portland is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative to specialize in the registration process.
Responsibilities
Registration/check-in of patients for hospital and clinic appointments Accurately maintain patient data, insurance information, and other pertinent information Obtain necessary authorization forms and accurately document information in computer Perform insurance verification functions, for both commercial and multi-state Medicaid plans Assist in the management of work-lists related to referrals, denials, and authorization requirements Assist with financial counseling functions for Uninsured patients Support new patient intake and patient scheduling functions as needed Provide superior customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff Note: This is not an all-inclusive list of this job's responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Qualifications
Required High School Diploma/GED 2 Years Patient Access, insurance verification 2 Years Computer applications, typing, general office skills 2 Years Clerical experience with the ability to coordinate, manage, and follow-up Preferred Associate Related Field
