Prospect Researcher and Data Analyst
Loomis Chaffee School is seeking a Prospect Researcher & Data Analyst to join our community. The ideal candidate supports the school’s fundraising and engagement efforts. The primary responsibility will be to identify new prospects capable of significant financial support to Loomis Chaffee and prepare detailed, accurate, and timely research profiles on prospective donors for use by development officers, leadership, and volunteers. This role will work closely with the Director of Advancement Services & Prospect Development to ensure that portfolios are strategically built, prioritized, and aligned with institutional goals. The Prospect Researcher & Data Analyst will also collaborate with the Database Manager to maintain accurate, actionable data and reports to support gift officer decision-making. This is a full-time, 12-month hybrid position.
Key Responsibilities
Primary responsibility forproactively identifying potential major donors from the school’s community, including alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends, using internal data and external resources. Segment and prioritize prospects based on capacity and inclination to support fundraising initiatives and campaign priorities.
Conduct and interpret wealth screenings using third-party tools (e.g., iWave, ResearchPoint, Wealth-X) to identify new prospects and assess giving capacity.
Maintain prospect alerts to track wealth events, career changes, charitable gifts, etc. for both potential and assigned prospects, ensuring timely updates to records and alerts to frontline fundraisers.
Prepare and maintain comprehensive research profiles and briefing documents, ensuring that information is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to gift officers and school leadership. Respond to requests in a timely manner.
Provide research support for stewardship and donor engagement efforts, including background for personalized outreach and constituents attending school events.
Collaborate with Database Manager on data enrichment and maintenance efforts. Regularly review and update constituent records with accurate biographical, professional, and philanthropic data.
Uphold ethical standards in prospect research, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and responsible use of data in accordance with industry guidelines (e.g., Apra Code of Ethics).
Evaluate and recommend research tools, subscriptions, and methodologies to enhance research capabilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience
Well-developed writing and research skills and excellent computer skills, including superior knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Knowledge of internet search strategies and familiarity with research subscription services such as iWave, ResearchPoint, Wealth-X, and LexisNexis, and an ability to interpret, analyze, and summarize biographical and financial data.
Knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred.
Experience with Crystal Reports or comparable business intelligence reporting tool preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
