Key Responsibilities
The Pipefitter Shop Foreman is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pipefitting shop floor. This role ensures that all work is fabricated accurately, safely, and efficiently while guiding a team of skilled tradespeople. The ideal candidate is an experienced pipefitter with a strong command of fabrication methods, team leadership, and quality control.
Supervise and support daily activities of pipefitters and shop helpers in the fabrication shop.
Interpret blueprints and shop drawings to plan and direct fabrication work.
Assign tasks and oversee work progress to ensure productivity, safety, and quality.
Assist in pipe layout, cutting, fitting, and welding as needed to meet production goals.
Perform and oversee quality checks to confirm adherence to specifications.
Operate and ensure proper use of shop equipment such as pipe threaders, welding machines, grinders, and overhead cranes.
Train and mentor junior team members to improve skills and reinforce safety standards.
Coordinate with Shop Superintendent and Project Managers to meet deadlines and material needs.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organized shop environment.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a pipefitter.
Prior supervisory or foreman experience in a shop environment required.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and shop sketches.
Hands‑on knowledge of welding, threading, grooving, cutting, and fitting of various pipe materials.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
