About the Role

Raymond West is seeking a driven Business Development Representative to join our dynamic Sales team! In this pivotal role, you’ll be the critical link between Raymond West and our customer‑building relationships, identifying needs, and introducing innovative material handling solutions that help streamline operations. You’ll prospect new business through proactive outreach, collaborate closely with senior Account Managers, and play a key role in driving growth across our customer base. Responsibilities
Make thirty cold‑call contacts per day, for a minimum of three days per week.
Identify business opportunities through resources such as newspapers, Dun & Bradstreet and internet sources; network with commercial real estate companies and Chambers of Commerce.
Generate sales leads through literature drops, mail, e‑mail and campaigns.
Increase market awareness through warm calling.
Create and manage a prospective customer database.
Digitize all contacts through Outlook for mail merge campaigns.
Work closely with the Marketing Department to develop new customers.
Must pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
Required Skills & Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Maintain effective working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments.
Willing to work off‑hours as specific needs dictate and assume more responsibility as required.
Handle difficult people or circumstances with a positive outcome.
Attend seminars and classes to update or improve skills.
Make sound decisions.
Present a neat, professional appearance.
Use time efficiently.
Communicate with people at all levels of management, both internally and externally.
Work in conjunction with other departments as needed.
Learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with flexibility.
Motivated for continuous self‑development and training.
Possess a current, valid, unrestricted driver license.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four‑year college or technical school is preferred; alternatively, two years of sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Travel & Physical Requirements
Drive 4–6 hours daily to cover sales territory.
Manage daily documentation and reporting requirements for your route.
Position is non‑sedentary, described as "outside" or "field" sales.
Frequently travel to meet customers face‑to‑face and maintain relationships.
Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
Compensation Base salary $60,000 plus commission opportunities; most Business Development Representatives earn between $100,000 and $150,000 in their first year. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and location.
