Responsibilities GLOTECH, Inc. is seeking candidates for Senior Cabling Installation Technician roles to support projects in various locations throughout the United States and OCONUS. These positions are expected to be temporary as the work schedule and duration may vary based on project location. The Senior Cabling Installation Technician primary responsibilities include directing and leading a crew, as well as participating in the installation of premise network cabling systems at stateside and overseas offices.
Perform the installation, labeling and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit and associated hardware.
Update cable run sheets and other documentation as required.
Serve as the subject matter expert in reading and interpreting system installation drawings and design packages.
Promote a safe work environment and implement safe work practices.
Provide guidance and perform quality assurance checks for subordinate cabling personnel in the installation, termination, and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems, as well as various types of cable tray, PDS, and EMT conduit up to 4 inches. Able to fusion splice fiber optic cable.
Qualifications
Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
Ability to travel as needed to meet project requirements.
A minimum of seven (7) years' experience in the installation of copper and fiber-optic cable plants is required.
Proficiency in installation and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and related hardware.
Proficiency in fusion splicing, termination and outside plant installation.
Ability to interpret work orders and prints to determine project requirements.
Proficiency in using splicing technology such as OTDRs, VFL, OLTS.
Proficiency in installation and termination of LC, MTRJ, SC, RJ45 connectors and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
Proficiency in installing various types of cable tray, PDS, and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduit up to 4 inches.
Ability to lead and instruct a team of cabling technicians and document red-line changes to drawing packages.
Effective communication skills to coordinate installation work with subordinates and office personnel.
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Technician, BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC) and BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF) certifications are highly desirable.
