Job Summary: Works in conjunction with production, quality, environmental and engineering departments to monitor and report on compliance and deviations/opportunities within process control, food safety and quality programs. The position will be responsible for assisting in special projects as it relates to development of various product lines. In the absence of the Quality Manager, duties such as planning, coordinating, and directing a quality control program designed to ensure the company complies with our commitment to the SQF code shall then be assigned to the Quality ATL’s that are SQF Practitioners to ensure compliance to the SQF code, working in conjunction with the Lab Manager.

Essential Functions

Ability to interpret data and track data so as to communicate results to relevant parties in an appropriately timely manner.

Report deviations/opportunities in process parameters and assist with action planning and correction and taking such changes as deemed appropriate.

Coordinate with appropriate departments to establish audit frequencies within process.

Review various programs within master auditing schedule.

Coordinate with quality assurance manager to develop monitoring and evaluation programs necessary to process and process deviations/opportunities.

Perform environmental testing and establish a frequency based on historical data.

Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.

Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.

Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (FSMA, Safe Quality Foods, FDA, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).

Additional Functions

Implement quality control measures required for the production processes.

Task Sheets will be provided separately for each different task.

Qualifications

Associates degree preferred or a minimum of three years practical experience in a lab environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrable experience with laboratory techniques for the measurement of chemical components, microbiological parameters, and sensory attributes.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Practical experience in QA techniques, principles, and adherence to government regulations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.

Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Physical and Environmental

Physical Activity: Regularly involves talking or listening, standing and walking, and the use of hands and fingers.

Physical Demands: Regularly includes sitting, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional crouching, stooping, kneeling and/or climbing or balancing.

Physical Requirements: Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity to reach/handle items; ability to perceive attributes of objects; perform moderately strenuous daily activities.

Typical Environmental Conditions: May be exposed to loud noise levels, humidity, heat, air contamination, fumes and toxic chemicals; may work near moving mechanical parts and electrical hazards.

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel limited within the local area.
