Interior Architect for Commercial Fitouts: Intermediate Project Manager / Designer

A contract‑based opportunity for a seasoned Project Manager / Designer in commercial interiors, based remotely and ready to start ASAP. Base pay range

$55.00/hr - $75.00/hr About ALA Studio

A full‑service architecture and interior design firm founded in 2017, located in NYC and serving clients worldwide. We specialize in workplace, hospitality, retail, health and wellness spaces of all scales, and are a certified Minority & Woman‑owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) in NYC and NY state. Our team is small, collaborative, and driven by a passion for thoughtful, innovative design. Key Responsibilities

Independently manage 1–2 small projects or 1 medium project at a time, reporting to Director or Principal. Possibly manage a junior designer supporting the project. Coordinate project sub‑consultants such as MEP, structural, AV/IT, and lighting designers. Create work plans, track project budget and schedule. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including day‑to‑day communication and presentations. Develop design concepts, user‑experience journeys, diagramming, and mood boards. Produce and execute project deliverables: presentations, SD/DD/CD drawing sets, schedules, and specifications. Produce permit sets and coordinate Landlord review and DOB application processes when required. Review shop drawings, draft RFI responses, and provide clarification sketches during Construction Administration. Select, procure, and manage orders and installation for furniture and decorative lighting. Qualifications

5–8 post‑degree years of relevant experience at an architecture or design office, including DD/CD/CA phases on interior architecture projects. Strong collaboration and multitasking skills within fast‑paced project environments. Organized, detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and able to handle a variety of tasks. Excellent English communication and client‑facing skills. Portfolio demonstrating technical detail and sophisticated design sensibility. Must have strong proficiency in Revit and Enscape; extensive experience with construction documents and Revit family creation is required. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and Excel. Experience with FF&E sourcing and specification. Familiarity with NYC building codes and DOB permitting process. Legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Application Process
