Printpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging products, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Press Assistant for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. This is a 2nd shift position (3pm - 11pm, Mon - Fri) and includes premium pay in the amount of $2.50/hr for hours worked from 7pm - 7am.
Responsibilities
Prepare raw material rolls for printing
Place rolls in machine and prepare for splicing
Assist in removing rolls from rewind
Remove and weigh startup rolls at beginning of job
Fill and maintain viscosity of all inks and varnishes
Change doctor blades and over fill pans
Perform daily housekeeping tasks, including upkeep of Food Safety and 5S standards on machine
Remove and weigh waste from unwind and rewind
Empty refuse containers
Make waste bales when baler is full
Assist operator in monitoring quality and efficient operation
Prepare pre‑setup of sleeves, mandrels, anilox, and inks
Keep machine parts clean
Operate elevator safely during machine changeovers while swapping print cylinders, aniloxes, doctor blade chambers, and ink pans.
Assist operator in staging future jobs for pending changeovers
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Able to read a tape measure
Must possess basic computer skills
Internal candidates with a Written or higher level of counseling are ineligible to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
Some experience, technical skills, and Knowledge of the converting process
Familiarity with printing press operations
Basic Mechanical skills/aptitude
Physical Requirements
Able to push/pull/lift 50-75 lbs
Able to stand for extended periods of time
