07 Overview
The Department of History is looking for a motivated individual to be responsible for the front office. Provide front-office support, answer questions, and offer information regarding classes and our graduate program. Assist the Center for the SW and Medieval Studies program with various projects as needed. Handle sensitive materials with the TOUCHNET online ordering system in addition to processing checks and cash for NMHR renewals and subscriptions. Serve as a liaison with other departments and operating units to resolve day-to-day administrative and operational problems. This position allocates space for 3 department seminar rooms and the Common Room. Compile data and statistics for department reports. Provide information to EVALKIT and support information flow. Assist the faculty newsletter editor with compiling, verifying, proofreading, editing copy, and completing the layout of the annual NEWSLETTER, mailed to 500 History Department members in the U.S. Compile Faculty and PhD (current and recent grads) listings for the AHA online and hardcopy Directory of History Depts. Assist with annual inventory of department equipment (including 79 computers) and process equipment check-out forms required by UNM. Update the department webpage for 24 faculty members and 65 graduate students to promote milestones and events, using online training to maintain the site. Assist with special events such as new graduate student orientation, faculty retreats, HGSA meetings, Dept. Commencement, and Colloquia; open/close the office daily and assist with other duties/projects as assigned. Responsibilities

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completion of degrees above the minimum education requirement may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Higher Education Excellent customer service skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines Additional Information
