Overview
The Naples office of Dentons Cohen & Grigsby P.C. is seeking a paralegal with Trust & Estates practice experience to support the Trust & Estates Practice Group. The role reports to the Trust & Estates Practice Group Lawyers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Under the supervision of a lawyer, value assets, prepare accountings related to trust and estate administration and various tax returns including federal estate tax and fiduciary income taxes, with related reports. Prepare drafts of various estate plan documents, codicils, agreements, forms and status reports. Prepare and deliver communications to clients, estate administrators, beneficiaries, and interested parties. Research simple to complex legal and factual issues and summarize findings for internal and external review and use. Assist with the creation, organization and maintenance of forms, client materials and attorney work product in software and databases including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Draft client documents for review by an attorney; probate paralegal documents may include Estate Planning documents (Wills, Powers of Attorney, Healthcare Directives, Living Wills) and Probate Estate documents (Petitions, Motions, Testamentary Letters, Inventories, Accountings, Notices). Assist with ongoing administrative client matters including routine EIN preparation, calendaring, timekeeping (billable and non-billable), and adherence to firm administrative standards. Assist with trust administration tasks such as maintaining trust accounts, bill payments, bank reconciliations, and related correspondence. Assist with drafting letters, making phone calls, and sending faxes to other professionals. This may include: Collaborate with banks to help personal representatives collect estate assets, arrange vehicle transfers where there is a loan, or assist a personal representative of an estate. Notify creditors of the estate’s intention not to pay a bill, negotiate a compromise, or arrange for payment of a debt. Arrange for income, gift, or inheritance taxes to be prepared. Collect assets from retirement, investment, and other accounts. Competencies

Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree required, or Paralegal Certificate with equivalent experience. Minimum of 5-8 years of Trusts & Estates experience. Knowledge of trust and estate accountings, principal and income accounting concepts, Florida estate and trust law, probate administration processes and procedures, Probate Court rules, and duties of trustees and personal representatives. Superior communication skills; ability to work in a team environment. Ability to organize large amounts of data (hardcopy and electronic) into an easily retrievable system; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Ability to interact productively with all levels of firm staff; professional demeanor and strong organizational skills. Strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; strong computer skills and ability to learn new software. Ability to maintain discretion and privacy with confidential matters and documents; ability to understand legal concepts. Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and transport files and office supplies as needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PDF tools, document management software, Elite or other timekeeping software, Internet applications, and estate administration, accounting and tax preparation software.
