An established and highly regarded law firm in West Hartford, CT is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to join their growing team. The firm has a strong reputation in the area and a staff of 15 professionals. While the firm practices in several areas of law, this position will focus exclusively on supporting their expanding bankruptcy practice.
The Bankruptcy Paralegal will play a key role in assisting attorneys with case management, document preparation, client communication, and filing procedures for both consumer and business bankruptcy matters. The ideal candidate will have prior, hands‑on experience working within bankruptcy law and a solid understanding of related court filings and procedures.
Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, and related documents (Chapters 7, 11, and/or 13)
Draft correspondence, pleadings, and motions for attorney review
Manage case calendars, deadlines, and filings through CM/ECF and PACER
Conduct client intake and maintain communication throughout the case process
Organize and manage case files and supporting documentation
Assist attorneys during hearings, meetings, and case updates
Collaborate closely with attorneys and other paralegals across practice areas
Qualifications
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Bankruptcy Paralegal
Strong understanding of bankruptcy procedures, forms, and court systems
Proficiency with CM/ECF, PACER, and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000 – $90,000+, commensurate with experience
Flexible scheduling: option to work a 4‑day or 5‑day workweek
