Legal Assistant/Paralegal job at Evans & Dixon. Overland Park, KS. Evans & Dixon is currently seeking to add a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to our expanding fast paced Johnson County office. The candidate will be responsible for gathering, preparing, and summarizing relevant materials for use by attorneys and other legal counsels. Candidates must also have the capability to manage perplexing litigation files, work well with clients, other counsels and courts in a creative and diplomatic fashion. Prepare and review confidentiality agreements with attorney supervision. Provide administrative, litigation, and ongoing research support to attorneys along with investigating facts on each of those cases assigned to the attorney(s). Assist attorney(s) in preparation for hearings and trials by preparing arguments, motions, contracts and agreements. Research legal issues, regulations, legal articles, and relevant supporting laws by using online and offline sources. Conduct legal research and drafting as requested. File and organize exhibitions, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel. Summarize interrogatories, testimonies, and depositions to aid attorney before and during trial. Obtain affidavits and other formal legal documents. Complete investigations such as calling clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside parties to schedule interviews, meetings and depositions. Maintain all records for each case. Review trial transcriptions. Perform special tasks as needed, which may include but are not limited to, learning new computer applications, such as litigation management software and databases. Draft correspondence and legal documents. Get affidavits and other formal statements that may be used as evidence in court. Help lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents with the court or opposing counsel. Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions. Qualifications / Skills

Minimum of 2-4 years of Malpractice Defense experience from a law firm and must know how to manage cases from inception through trial. Be able to keep a Medical recording tracking log and crucial organization skills are a must. Experience in product liability and (or) wrongful death is a plus. Be able to interact with people at all levels of the corporate structure, prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates. Must understand and maintain complex litigation. Knowledge of Microsoft Office/Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel and general proficiency and ability to learn various software applications. Working knowledge of legal terminology and legal writing. Experience and technical expertise within Relativity (or other eDiscovery tools). Benefits
