Overview

Asst 7hr, Stdt Nutr — Hillsborough County Public Schools. Hours: 6:30 am – 2:00 pm. The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition follows all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Student Nutrition Services (SNS) guidelines and procedures. The Assistant 7 Hour Student Nutrition performs manual work in the preparation, serving and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a la carte foods to students and staff, under immediate supervision. Responsibilities Assists students during meal service, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and school rules while circulating through the cafeteria.

Prepares, cooks, and serves hot and cold food items with correct portion sizes; replenishes the serving line.

Takes and records food temperatures; follows corrective action procedures if items are not in safe zones.

Sets up serving line, obtains paper products and utensils, and presents food attractively.

Provides friendly customer service, acknowledges students, and maintains a neat serving area while encouraging healthy choices.

Enters meal components correctly, handles cash and checks, monitors special diets, and follows end-of-day cash procedures.

Receives and stocks food; checks out food for production and organizes storage areas.

Maintains program accountability with compliance to federal, state, and local rules; records production, HACCP, meal accountability, and cash procedures.

Circulates to assist students, promotes balanced meals, and encourages trying unfamiliar foods.

Assists SNS staff with student special diet requests and tastings; prepares allergy-free tables.

Ensures cafeteria tables are clean and ready for the next group; maintains clean serving line and storage areas; assists with overall kitchen cleanup.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Experience: Sufficient kitchen or cooking experience to acquire the knowledge and ability as specified.

Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents; writes routine reports; speaks effectively before groups.

Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic with money, weight, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Follows detailed instructions and solves problems with a few variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: None

Physical Demands Physical Activities: Walking, standing, stooping, squatting, handling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and keyboarding.

Lifting: Up to 35 pounds.

Environmental Conditions: Various noise levels, extreme temperatures, and proximity to moving parts.
