We are seeking a dedicated assistant to support the Connecticut River Conservancy (CRC) in watershed health assessment, stream restoration project implementation, water quality sampling, and community science engagement. This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps program, which focuses on affordable housing and environmental preservation.
Program Details
Work Schedule:
Full‑time (average 40 hours/week for 46 weeks)
Placement:
Full time in Vermont
Program Start‑End:
01/13/2026 – 12/11/2026
Education Level:
High school diploma/GED required
Age Requirement:
17–99 years
Compensation & Benefits
Living allowance: $30,500 (pre‑tax) for the full term
Education award: $7,395 (pre‑tax)
Other benefits: health insurance, federal school loan forbearance, training, and networking opportunities
Member Duties
Collaborate with CRC staff to organize and host volunteer events such as Aquatic Invasive Species removal paddles, AIS greeter programs, macroinvertebrate sampling, migratory fish nest surveys, and the annual Source to Sea River Cleanup.
Support the River Steward to conduct public education and outreach focused on conservation issues affecting the Connecticut River through events, print, and social media.
Provide public education and outreach opportunities around river‑related issues, including organizing education campaigns around specific water quality issues.
Collaborate with staff to coordinate water quality sampling efforts across multiple watershed groups in Vermont, including transporting samples, collecting samples, and using meters for assessment.
Research, collect, and synthesize program data to develop baseline Vermont information for the State of the Watershed Report.
