Phlebotomist (Part-time)
- 20-30 hours a week of varied shifts in Del Norte. Performs routine technical work in the laboratory under the direction of the clinical laboratory technologist. Responsible for phlebotomy services, including obtaining patient lab specimens through venipuncture and other technologies as ordered by a physician for outpatient, inpatient, ED, and nursing home specimens. Responsibilities include: Answering phones, EMR and LIS data entry, specimen accessioning, and maintaining phlebotomy supplies. Processing and packaging specimens for send-out testing. Performing DOT urine collections and breath alcohol testing as deemed necessary by the laboratory supervisor. Properly identifying patients, collecting and labeling blood samples, and sending them to the laboratory for analysis per physician request. Performing special tests such as fingerstick INR, glucose tolerance tests, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Maintaining detailed documentation of tests performed and blood samples collected. May be assigned other duties as seen necessary by the laboratory supervisor. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Phlebotomy experience, basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must have excellent verbal skills to present information and ideas essential to supervisory duties and understand general laboratory practices. Capable of working closely with patients and other staff members. Workable knowledge of safety procedures. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have patience and enthusiasm as well as the willingness and ability to handle difficult situations with good judgment. Must be able to work as a team player, be flexible, and able to work scheduled shifts. Must be willing to learn. Requirements: Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED Required Colorado Licensure/Certification One year experience preferred, but not required.
