The University of Georgia is seeking a skilled HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic to join the facilities management team at the UGA Griffin Campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service, and repair of HVAC systems, equipment, fixtures, and related electro-mechanical systems. Position Summary
This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager and involves manual work at the journeyman level. The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Responsibilities
Inspect, service, repair, and maintain HVAC systems located on the UGA Griffin Campus. Monitor Building Automation System, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems in HVAC systems. Test, locate, and repair HVAC equipment. Install heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. Perform regular walk-throughs of all buildings/facilities to identify potential problems and advise administrators of necessary alterations and repairs. Requirements
Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Graduation from an accredited vocational school with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as an HVAC technician (preferred). EPA Section 608 Technician Certification. Experience with a variety of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Good working knowledge of hand tools, multimeter, and gauges. General mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude. Working Conditions
The position involves working in a variety of indoor/outdoor work environments, including rooftops, attics, and confined spaces, with exposure to variable temperatures and weather conditions. EEO Policy Statement
