JOB SUMMARY Conducts complex and general microscopic, bacteriological, chemical and hematological examinations for all phases of laboratory testing to include pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical testing. Trains and assists with management of laboratory staff. Maintains laboratory equipment and inventory. Maintains Competency, Proficiency and Quality Control. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES
70% - Essential - Laboratory testing: Conducts complex and general microscopic, bacteriological, chemical and hematological examinations for all phases of laboratory testing to include pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical testing. Required to demonstrate Proficiency and Competency testing annually. Properly uses laboratory equipment such as computers, centrifuges, microscopes, and auto analyzers. Calibrates, performs preventative maintenance and troubleshoots equipment and instrument malfunctions. Communicates with service reps when necessary to correct malfunctions.
10% - Essential - Quality Control: Performs, evaluates, troubleshoots and resolves any issues with Quality Control (QC) in all areas of the laboratory before reporting patient results. All QC is documented. All critical result reporting is reported immediately to the ordering provider and documented.
10% - Essential - Inventory Management: Monitors inventories; advises when supplies need to be reordered. Responsible for restocking all laboratory supplies.
10% - Essential - Management & Training: Orders lab requests in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Credentials and builds outside ordering providers in the EMR and Laboratory Information System (LIS). Trains laboratory staff and personnel in procedures, methods, and documentation. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices & developments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education
- Associate's Degree or equivalent training in a related medical, scientific or technical discipline and journey-level work experience in a related field; or a bachelor's degree in a related medical or scientific discipline

COMPENSATION INFORMATION Expected Salary Range ($ 39,764.00 - $ 42,772.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
