Biomedical Equipment Technician III - Full Time, Days. Houston, TX. The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) III provides technical & On-Call support for analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation, and upgrades on all assigned medical and other electronic equipment. Supports modalities of medical, surgical, and therapeutic equipment and conducts safety inspections to meet regulatory guidelines. Provides first call technical support for x-ray and imaging systems and first call and scheduled maintenance for ultrasound systems. Works under minimal supervision, maintains records, and updates a database of scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance, and safety testing in accordance with manufacturer, regulatory, and department guidelines. Provides on-call support after normal hours on a rotational basis and supports special projects and installations under guidance of the Clinical Engineer or management. Requirements

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Proactively works with hospital departments and communicates the status of repairs to minimize equipment downtime. Monitors patient equipment improvements, provides recommendations, and oversees completion to advance the customer experience and service levels. Monitors outside vendor and client activities to obtain completion of equipment support and ensures documentation of all activities. QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Monitors calibration status of test equipment and ensures compliance. Represents the hospital in regulatory inspections and may sit on hospital safety and equipment selection committees. Performs analysis, troubleshooting, and complex repair of patient medical equipment per manufacturer specifications; ensures accurate installation in compliance with codes and regulations. FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ensures accuracy and completeness of documentation for all equipment support activities in the database on time per guidelines. Uses resources and supplies cost-effectively; self-motivated to manage time, minimize overtime, and prioritize tasks while assisting coworkers as needed. GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Participates in leading special projects and mentoring; evaluates and recommends ideas to improve equipment quality, safety, and service. Performs trainings as a subject matter expert and participates in department projects. Provides nursing in-service on equipment issues to reduce Use Errors and improve patient care. EDUCATION Associate's degree in Biomedical Technology (BMET), Electronics Engineering, or related field OR successful completion of Military BMET training Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electronics Engineering preferred WORK EXPERIENCE Five years of experience maintaining electronics or electromechanical equipment, or four years maintaining medical equipment LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED N/A LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - PREFERRED CBET - Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (AAMI) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Demonstrates the skills and competencies to safely perform the assigned job, with ongoing assessments and performance evaluations Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English, especially for safety-related activities Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers with a customer service focus Multi-task oriented with ability to meet deadlines Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; process-oriented and a change agent Solid technical skills in analyzing, calibrating, and installing medical equipment Ability to follow detailed instructions to complete complex procedures and operate equipment Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and hospital policies governing Biomed equipment support High service standards, timely responses to customer requests, and anticipation of customer needs SUPPLEMENTAL REQUIREMENTS WORK ATTIRE Uniform: No Scrubs: Yes Business professional: Yes Other (department approved): No ON-CALL On Call Yes TRAVEL May require travel within the Houston Metropolitan area: Yes May require travel outside Houston Metropolitan area: No
