Biomedical Equipment Technician II - Full Time, Days at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) II provides technical support for general medical equipment, physiological monitoring, surgical equipment, and conducts safety inspections for the organization. This includes analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation, and upgrades on assigned medical and other electronic equipment. The position works under limited supervision of a BMET Lead or Clinical Engineer, maintains records, and manages a database of scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance, and safety testing in accordance with manufacturer, regulatory, and department guidelines. Responsibilities

People Essential Functions: Promotes a positive work environment, contributes to a team-focused unit, listens to feedback, and values diverse perspectives. Communicates effectively with customers to access equipment and resolve issues. Encourages peer-to-peer accountability to improve department scores for employee engagement. Service Essential Functions: Works with hospital departments to communicate repair status and minimize equipment downtime. Uses tools and test equipment appropriately and inventories assigned tools and test equipment. Supports pre-purchase evaluations for medical equipment as requested by the Clinical Engineer. Coordinates outside support activities with vendors and clients and ensures documentation is complete. Quality/Safety Essential Functions: Documents all equipment support activities in the database accurately and on time. Performs basic analysis, troubleshooting, and patient equipment repair. Prioritizes work to meet timelines and regulatory/department guidelines (e.g., PM compliance for assigned equipment at 95% minimum, life support equipment at 100% monthly). Meets departmental Open Service Report averages. Finance Essential Functions: Maintains productivity goals and uses resources cost-effectively. Manages time effectively to meet department guidelines and assists coworkers as needed. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions: Evaluates and recommends ideas to improve equipment quality, safety, and service. Provides nursing in-services on equipment to reduce use errors and improve patient care. Proactively identifies development needs and updates development plans with management support. Education

Associate Degree in Biomedical Technology (BMET), Electronics Engineering or related field OR successful completion of Military BMET training Work Experience

Three years of experience in maintaining electronics or electromechanical equipment, or two years maintaining medical equipment Licenses And Certifications - Required

Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) necessary to perform essential functions, especially where patient or employee safety is impacted Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers with a customer service focus Effective knowledge of basic computer hardware and software Knowledge of regulatory agency standards and practices Skilled in using standard test equipment and tools for maintaining clinical equipment Strong technical ability to analyze, calibrate, and install medical equipment Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and hospital policies governing Biomed equipment support High service standards, including timely responses to customer requests and anticipating needs Supplemental Requirements
