Position Description
Surgical Technologist – Non‑Certified
The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room and patients to ensure a sterile field.
Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens and assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
May assist in patient transport.
Position Details Location: St. Joseph's Main and Children's Shift Hours: 6:30 am – 5:00 pm Weekend Work: Occasional On Call: Yes
Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or a military/hospital‑based training program with at least 5 years acute‑care surgical tech experience.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Specific Skills
Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set‑up.
Interpersonal skills.
