Position Summary: Assists with laboratory duties in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from the supervisor, manager or higher‑level technician, including PCR genotyping, small rodent handling, biopsies, dissections, and data entry.

Schedule 40 hours per week.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Assists the investigator or higher‑level technician with research studies, experiments, and assays, including collection of data, animal colony maintenance, preparation of solutions, set‑up and maintenance of equipment, and animal handling and husbandry.

Maintains files on research and assists with data entry in a customized web‑based software program for tracking animal colonies.

Helps coordinate experiments with laboratory staff for multiple clients across the University.

Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.

Working Conditions

Works in a barrier facility laboratory environment.

Must be physically able to wear protective equipment.

Must be able to lift 5 lbs and be able to stand and move for 70% of working hours.

Must be able to provide standard and specialized care to research animals.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or a combination of education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications No additional education unless stated elsewhere in the job posting.
