Clinical Dietitian - Outpatient Diabetes Education and Outpatient Nutrition Services - Battle Creek, MI
Bronson Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Dietitian for Outpatient Diabetes Education and Outpatient Nutrition Services in Battle Creek, MI. This role involves patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaboration with patients, caregivers, and families, and participation in community health and education programs.
Responsibilities
Assess nutrition needs and develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition care plans.
Interpret, evaluate, and apply current nutrition research; coordinate activities according to department policies and goals for the healthcare team.
Set priorities, meet deadlines, and promote positive patient outcomes; interact with patients, caregivers, and families.
Provide high-quality, team-based care using evidence-based guidelines; support diversity and cultural factors.
Develop and document patient, community, and staff education programs (individual or group).
Demonstrate competencies in population-specific care and maintain up-to-date knowledge of dietary guidelines and care standards.
Document nutrition assessment, plan of care, and follow-up; adjust plans as needed based on patient response and discharge planning.
Provide phone follow-up and coordinate continuity of care with primary care providers and other dietitians.
Contribute to process improvement and compliance through review of medical records and data.
Additional skills may be required depending on department (e.g., nutrition-focused physical exam, motivational interviewing, MNT/DSME billing in outpatient care).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Nutrition.
Master’s degree required if becoming a Registered Dietitian in 2024 and thereafter; RD graduates prior to 2024 are not required to have a graduate degree.
Completion of a ACEND-accredited supervised practice program (e.g., Dietetic Internship, Individual Supervised Practice Pathway, Coordinated Program, Future Graduates Program, International Dietitian Education Program).
Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration within 6 months of hire.
Additional certifications or progress toward certification may be required depending on the department (e.g., Diabetes Education requires CDCES credentials and insulin pump training).
Professional Skills
Proficiency with computer systems including Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail; physical ability to perform job duties (walking, standing, bending, lifting light objects).
